Tech for a Remote Hub Ecosystem

The Main Components

Microphone
  • We use: Shure SM7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
  • Colleagues use:

    • ***
USB Interface
  • We use: Sound Devices USBPre 2. Lots of functionality for two interpreters, and could even be used to take the microphone system for on-site gigs.

Headphones
  • We use: Bose QuietComfort 35. Designed for consumer use, but is comfortable with noise cancellation. Wireless capability, but we use the included audio cable for gigs. Considering upgrading.
  • Others use:
    • Over-the-ear

      • ***
    • Headphone/Microphone combo

Other Stuff

Cables XLR and Ethernet Cables
  • XLR Cables
    • We use: AmazonBasics XLR cable. Getting ready to upgrade. Here's a review of some different cables.
  • Ethernet Cable

Computer
  • We use: Apple iMac ***
  • Others use any newish computer with appropriate processing speeds, and a nice camera built in.

Power Supply
  • We use: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System. Purchased based on ratings.

Lighting
  • Two lamps that can distribute light evenly and softly across the face and upper body.

Microphone Stand
  • We use: Microphone arm stand with scissor suspension. It clamps to the desk, does not move about, and stays out of the way of the face and moving hands on the desk.
